Earlier this year Katherine made the grave mistake of pissing off the show's writers, dropping out of the Emmy's and saying that she didn't deserve an Emmy this year because she hadn't been given the sort of material that would warrant being nominated for an Emmy. That may prove to be a terminal error for Heigl, whose character will enjoy a brain tumor in coming episodes.
I'm a little disappointed that the didn't take the classy route and have her die from a massive herpes outbreak that covered her whole body, but the writers have apparently seen an advantage to giving her cancer instead. As Us Weekly's sources revealed: [Producer] Shonda [Rhimes] and the writers are pissed at her... It™s their way of screwing with her. She won™t know whether she™s going to live or die.¯
