That's the question that is on the lips of the people who follow these things. It would seem that Lindsay has managed to hook up with a serial proposer. Not only was he engaged when he met Lindsay, some people are saying that he has already proposed to Lindsay, and that she now sports his ring.
I don't see any real reason why this wouldn't be true. After all, Lindsay is renowned for having the judgment skills of a dull gerbil, especially when it comes to men. So he was engaged to someone else five minutes ago, and now he wants to put a ring on your finger? That's probably like the ultimate score for Lindsay.
Don't forget that she's allegedly semi responsible for the break up of one marriage, now she's managed to destroy this one before it has even started. Major kudos probably comes from that. Now all she needs to catch up with Britney is a Vegas wedding and a couple of kids.
